While I have always lived and worked in urban areas, I am drawn to rural natural settings.  These places - particularly around the seashore - fill me with feelings of wonderment  When I am taking pictures, I am reminded of nature's power and beauty and how much in nature is beyond our control.

Matisse said, "Merely copying an object is not art.  What counts is to express the emotion called forth in you."  The gallery, Seaside Impressions, is my exploration of the emotions that I feel when standing seaside - the timeless and emotionally uplifting aspects of nature as witnessed through the movement of water, clouds, and earth  The abstract nature of these images focuses the viewer on the essence of the natural scene.  My goal is to capture the ever-changing scenes beheld.  I am particularly drawn to the fleeting shapes that form when sky, water and sand intersect and to the colors and shapes that emerge as the sunlight reflects off the water and sand.  These images are a reminder of the largeness and intimacy of nature.  This series was shot on the Cape Cod beaches of Wellfleet and Provincetown.  Many of these images were exhibited at the Dover Town Library in January/February 2015.

On Cape Cod, near the sea and sand, the colors of autumn are mostly in the colors formed by the lower angle of the sun intersecting with the water and sand.  The images in Autumn Colors on Cape Cod were taken over the last several years and demonstrate the dramatic colors that occur as the seasons change.

The images in Cape Cod - the lower Cape are scenes that portray the beautifully colored light that is created on Cape Cod by the sunlight, sand and water.  These images celebrate the large and colorful skies and clouds that form near sunset and sunrise. They capture the timeless feeling of the scene and remind us of the importance of preserving the natural beauty of the National Seashore and the areas surrounding them.

Summer at the Cape - 2016 Images of Cape Cod are photographs that I made during the summer.  Many are abstract impressions from the lower Cape towns of Wellfleet and Provincetown.  These images emphasize the colors in the sky and water around sunset.

Winter White explores the emotions created during the snow blizzards and accumulations that befell New England in 2015.
